Letā€™s start with a comment from avid Tuna eater (husband, who else šŸ˜‚) ā€œthis tastes better than the real tuna meltā€!! that says it allĀ #amiriteĀ @meetunmeat.us. Sharing step by step how I made it below.

INGREDIENTS: (serves 4 people)

  • 2 cans spicy plant based tuna flakes (I usedĀ @meetunmeat.us)
  • 1/2 cup diced red onionĀ
  • 1/2 cup diced celeryĀ
  • 1/8 cup diced spring onionĀ
  • 3 tbsps avocado oil mayoĀ
  • 1 tbsp dijon honey mustardĀ
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds powderĀ
  • 1 tbsp kitchen king masala (optional)
  • 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 1/4 tsp saltĀ
  • 1 tbsp red chilli falkesĀ
  • 100-150 gms shaved cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices of white bread (I used small sandwich bread)
  • 2 cups spring greensĀ
  • Honey to drizzle on top

METHOD:

  • In a bowl, put the tuna flakes and add fresh water. I always like to rinse and then strain canned food in fresh water.Ā
  • In a separate bowl, add strained tuna flakes, onions, celery, spring onions, cumin seeds powder, ajwain, kitchen king masala, mayonnaise, Jon mustard, chili flakes and salt. Combine well.Ā
  • Toast the bread slides in the toaster.Ā
  • Line the baying tray w/ parchment.Ā
  • Place the toasted bread. Lay the shaved cheddar cheese, then handful of spring greens, 3 tbsps of tuna mix, more cheese, sprinkle of chili flakes.Ā
  • Broil until cheese melts.Ā
  • Drizzle honey on top and enjoy with some crinkled potato chips!
  • Bon Appetit šŸ˜‹

xoxo Rinky
